DCYF Ignores Family Concerns
My niece is currently in the ICU at Hasbro children’s hospital in providence R.I fighting for her little life. She overdosed on fentanyl and has been there since June 12. She just turned two on June 21st. My sisters and myself have been calling dcyf for 4 years now when her mother (my sister in law) was pregnant with nieces older brother.
Her mother and My brother are heroin users and we have always feared for these children’s lives. No one believed us no one would listen.
My brother had overdosed once in October 2018 and childrens mother had asked my Mom to come watch the babies so she could go to the clinic. This was my chance I drove as quick as I could Called dcyf and brought the children to Hasbro.
They were placed with children’s maternal grandparents for 8 months, then right back with mother. Throughout this time we had learned that my Nephew was being verbally abused by the grandparents and the grandfather was a well known drug dealer in north providence.
On Friday when we got the call that niece overdosed my heart broke and I screamed out to dcyf the news channels that I told them this was going to happen why didn’t they listen to me!
My nephew is currently placed with the grandparents while niece hopefully recovers. The grandparents put the blame on my brother and I know within time will give mother those babies back.
I have offered to foster them. But I don’t know where to go from here.
I need help and I don’t know who to reach out to anymore. Please please help me!
