Over 20 Years of Fighting the System For My Family
CPS has ruined so many lives by fabricating truths and distorting information, nationwide. It is my goal to expose the horrific accounts my children and I have suffered at the hands of a broken system.
Del Norte county presented false information about me to the state of Nevada in 1993. The allegations include false statements made against me by Child Protective Services. This preconditioned the investigation in Clark County. This had a direct influence on situations that have ruined my life. Clark County has ignored innocent children and placed them in harm’s way. Since this has caused a lot of pain and suffering, I strongly feel it warrants a redress of grievance. I was led to believe that my children were in harm’s way and I have taken on an intricate and vast journey in efforts to expose the lies. For the sake of justice, I have spent the past 24 years, trying to defend my family. My children reported being abused and instead of letting them have a voice, their rights were violated. Their accusations were denied and that were placed with the alleged abuser that same day. Overall, this has caused them all a great deal of suffering throughout their childhood years and the damage has followed them into adulthood. I am seeking apologies that I feel my children and I deserve. It is also my goal to set forth a new law that can help prevent this from happening to future victims. A law that states children have a voice. There should be a thorough investigation and trial after an allegation is made and before a child is placed back into the hands of the alleged abuser.
History of 1991-1993 Testimonials
Finally, I’ve found the courage to leave my husband. I left due to the abuse and neglect. With nowhere to go I take a bus from Las Vegas to California. My daughter father, whom is not my husband is offering me a car. I am told I can pick it up. My children and I arrive in Petaluma, at 2 in the morning. At this point I have decided to avoid daughter father because I am embarrassed of my change in appearance. I looked different since the last time I saw him. My self-esteem is low, I am scared and my fingertips were tender from biting my nails. I also felt guilty for leaving my abusive husband for another man. When I go to get off the bus, I am with my five children and all of our belongings. The bus driver notices this and asks me what my plans are. I tell him I want to make a phone call and go into a shelter. He tells me that my children are well behaved. Since it is so late, he offers me to stay on the bus and go with him to his destination. There he will be turning around and coming right back to Petaluma the following morning. Not knowing the destination, I am on the bus and shortly realize that my dream of moving to Crescent City could now be a possibility and might even come true.
It is 11:00 am and I am at the public aid office. The social worker asks me, “What brings me so far away from Vegas?” I replied, “I have been abused for far too long and have had more than enough.” I get the feeling that she doesn’t believe me. I am given a motel voucher. After arriving to the room, I order a pizza with the extra money I had in my pocket and have the children shower. One day, as my children are laughing and carrying on, I get a telephone call. I am told that there has been a complaint made against me from the woman next door. She has reported that she had just lost a child and cannot sleep with the disturbance. I call the shelter because the director is also a pastor. I explain the situation and ask if my children and I can stay there. I am told no because there is not enough staff to handle my children. Days later, I call the shelter back and ask for help. This time I am told that I can stay there. I later regret this decision and realize it was a dysfunctional environment. In fact, it was eventually closed down due to embezzlement. I felt the people staying there were rude towards me and I hated being humiliated by the staff. I particularly remember one of the male staff members and he was the one staff member that was always on duty.
One day, male staff member is driving someone to run an errand and my son and I are in the back. When my son stands up, male staff member pulls over. He tells my son to sit down, when my son doesn’t listen right away, he slams on the breaks and it throws my son to the ground. My son is only 4 years old at the time. I felt that this was an unprofessional way to handle the situation. One morning, while standing at the kitchen sink, male staff member asks me why was I standing there looking like I had my finger up my butt. Another incident while at the shelter, my son is in the kitchen, and female 2 who is a resident, drags my son out of the kitchen by both arms. Then a resident named female 2, was caught smoking weed in the room. When she was asked about the smell, she said that it was just her perfume and was told to get a new one. During my stay there, I felt like I was the only one that mistreated. Male staff member had a habit of bending the rules and favoring the other girls.
One morning after I had stayed up late to help with chores, I am woken up by a rude, loud pounding on the door. It is 7:30a.m. and I am told that my son is outside with another boy who has a slingshot and they are throwing rocks. I try my hardest to make things right and I try making friends. I am up late at night volunteering to do dishes, by the time I get my bath and go to bed it is one in the morning. A resident that male staff member favors, asks me to buy her cigarettes. She invites me to go with her after the kids are asleep. So, I get a babysitter. We go out and at 2am and male staff member is letting us back in. A week later female resident asks me for alcohol, she has been drinking. In the morning male staff member finds a bottle in the trash and asks me why I had brought a bottle on the property. As I am recalling the bottle that female resident had, he raises his voice and says, “That’s it your out!” My children and I are kicked out. The shelter gives me a three-day motel voucher. With that a gather my belongings and call a taxi. As I am loaded all of my things into the taxi, my son has opened the small refrigerator that sits either on the floor or on top of a table. He has cut the top of his finger nail, so I clean it and put a bandage on it. The next day, while I organizing my things, female resident 3 who is a resident from the shelter stops by. She asks if I want her to take my son and daughter with her for a while, this way it would give me time to clean up. She ends up at the hospital and has treated my son without me knowing. This is why one of the false reports states that staff took my kids and I was ignoring them. The motel that I am at is a dive, so I move to a different one because it is closer to the grocery store and has an indoor swimming pool. I call the radio station and I am asking for help. I need a place to go to get on my feet or else I will be forced to go back to my husband. That night I get a call back from a woman who is in the hospital. She says that she is willing to rent to me. I make a quick stop to view it and then agree to take it.
It is late at night when I move in. There are no lights and it is completely dark. At first, I was unable to see the garbage laying all around and the trailer in the yard with a sewer hose running into the house. I was later told that the garbage would be removed. This incident was used against me in court documents, insinuating that is was my garbage. It costs me $1700.00 to move into the place. There were not enough heaters and this too was held against me in the court documents. Maggie from social services stops by, she is with the fraud unit. I apologize for everything and I show her how the heater is barely putting out enough heat. The house was a large five-bedroom house and it only had four tiny wall heaters. The same documents used against me in court, states that I was without electricity. I have never lived in a home without power. One night, as I am looking at myself in the mirror, I begin to doubt myself, thinking that I am a failure and begin to question myself worth.
Female resident 2, a girl from the shelter stops by and asks if she can stay with me for a while. I tell her yes. A few days later, as she begins sweeping the stairs, I ask her if she would mind watching the kids for a few minutes while I go next door to call my husband. When I go next door, I am offered a mix drink. This is the time that the statement refers to me drinking. I typically do not drink. I have never really been a fan of alcohol and I can get plenty of character witness statements to prove it. At this point, I ask my husband for his help to get the kids beds. He tells me that he will but I have to wait. He wants to come up and see the kids. I am at home and I invite my friend over. I like him and I value the way he treats me. One thing leads to another and shortly after I find out that I am pregnant. I call my husband, and tell him everything. When I tell him not to come, he argues with me that he is coming up anyways. He says he has a U-Haul filled with stuff.
My son has gotten sick, so I take him to the hospital. The doctor admits him and I am told he has a broken clavicle. I am in shock because I do not know when it happened. The doctor tells me it is a common bone to break. my son says he might have broken it playing football at school. This incident was also used against me in the court documents. At some point I file a judgement against the landlady for the heaters that are not working properly. The judge says she should be lucky I am not suing her for more than $500.00. He orders her to pay me within a week. He asks me how much time I need to gather my things and move out. I tell him I can be out in a week. I leave but when they don’t pay, I go back to the court. I am put on the calendar. The day I show up to court they tell me there is nothing on record.
I am in a motel with a kitchen and shortly after that we move into a three bedroom. I am working at the fair where I meet Priscilla Presley. I am trying to pay for my husbands books so he can take two classes at the college. I am doing bible study three times a week. I have taken in her daughter. She stays with us just long enough to graduate. My husband passes his classes and receives the monthly allotment he gets from unemployment. He is supposed to be looking for work, but he’s not. The power bill is high. It is like $300.00 and the back room is always cold. The owner decides to put the place up for sale and so we have to move. I find a card from the department of social services. I ask my husband about it. He says they stopped by because one of the kids were seen peeing in the yard. This is also in the court documents used against me. I currently owe a school $3,000.00. They say if I can come up with $400.00, they would squash the loan. I start selling things around the house to come up with the money. I also buy a trailer. I ask a friend if I can stay by her and put the trailer in the back yard for now. She tells me there is a place in Klamath where I can put the trailer. I send my husband to go look at it. He says it’s nice so we move into the trailer park that is 20 minutes away from town. One day, I go back and forth to town to get parts so that my husband can fix the water heater. After resting in the overhead with my baby, I decide to go for a drive around the coeval sack. I am gone less than ten minutes, and when I return all of the neighbors are at my place. The trailer has exploded and blown its side walls out. I call Red Cross but they will not help. The dishes are sky high, the laundry is backed up and I am unhappy. I ask my husband for a divorce. My friend helps me type up the papers. They are done and ready to be served but my husband is upset. He says we just need a break and that he will leave. Payday comes, he takes $500.00 and leaves me just enough to pay the rent. Before he leaves, I ask him to help me get the laundry done and do dishes. He tells me that’s my problem. The day I leave to do laundry, the truck breaks down on the highway. I get a car on payments. I call my bible study teacher and ask for help. I ask if I can put my trailer at her house. I call the shelter since it is under new management and ask if I can stay there.
During the intake I have offered to help the woman rearranging the dining room. She says she has no income and tells me how she just left her husband, a good job and a big house. I am welcomed to stay there until I can get on my feet. The woman gives me baby size blankets for my children and tells me we are not allowed to take them outside. One day, we are asked to clean our rooms. I go to make the beds and tidy up my room and then I step outside. When we get back there is a notice to leave. Apparently, one of the baby blankets must have fallen on the floor on my way out and for this I am being kicked out. Although, at this point I felt like she was just looking for any reason to kick me and my kids out and now I guess she had one. I start balling. I call the chaplain who sponsors the shelter. He says it is up to her to decide. She says I am not allowed to stay and gives me three days to move out. My friend helps me find a place to put my trailer. I’ve asked the church to help put in a flushing toilet. I earn money from a side job and buy a barbeque
One day, I am at work, 20 miles away from home. I am helping with the United Way dinner. I am doing this to pay off the work I owed them for fixing my toilet. I get a phone call and I am told that my son is at Department of Social Services because he was found walking the highway. I had arranged for a friend to pick him up from school but she was unable to find him because he took the wrong bus. I am told he is going to be taken into protective care. My boss drives me from Klamath to Crescent City. I rush over to Social Services and the doors are locked. Through the glass I see my son with Mrs. Ernastein. I am able pick him up and he comes home with me.
I save up enough money and get a used Volkswagen. I leave town to do laundry and my car breaks down. I buy my kids a bunch of clothes. My goal is to buy the kids bikes and skateboards and sign them up for surf lessons. During this time people have made me feel bad about the way I am living. A couple with kids wants to buy my trailer. They say they are desperate and have nowhere to go. I decide to sell it because I can use the money to rent a house. They ask if they can pay me in two weeks but never do. In fact, they have gone into hiding. After driving around, I find them at a trailer park. They still refuse to pay me and there is nothing that I can do about it. The motel I am staying at is getting costly. I cannot afford to pay my rent and eat. I go to the county; they offer me $1700.00 to find a place. Another friend and her family stop by. She wants me to rent out the place that she’s been staying at in Klamath for the 1700.00. It is on a reservation. She says if I move into it, she will move out. Seeming like a better option then the one I am in. I agree without seeing it first.
I am 25 miles from town. It is almost midnight and I am being dropped off with all of my belongings. It is raining hard outside and there is no light in the house. I ask the next-door neighbor, who I barely knew, for help. He runs an extension cord from across the lot from his place to mine for the night. I ask my friend mother for firewood. The next morning, I give $50.00 to a friend to clean the fridge because there is spoiled deer meat in it and my stomach can’t handle it. On the porch there is another refrigerator with a dead bunny on top of it. Under the trailer there are canning jars, some of which are broken. Inside, the carpet is filthy. I am at the mobile clinic to ask for meds because I have got a bad toothache and broken toe. The practitioner suggests that I should apply for disability. She thinks I would qualify. Becky and Patricia stop by my house and agree that the situation is bad. The next day, Patricia’s dad, who is a police officer, stops by. He asks me to see my kids. My daughter Brittini is on a walk with stormy. When they get back, he is looking Brittini over. On his radio, he reports that there are no bruises on Brittini. Then he leaves.
One night there is someone moving around on our porch. I recognize it’s my neighbor because of the marking on his shoes that is glowing in the dark. I am startled. In the living room, the ceilings instillation is hanging low. A social worker shows up and walks though my house. I stay up through the night to keep the wood stove going. I buy a used washer and dryer. With four boys I need more warm clothes. If a coat was wet and a child was without, I would keep them home from school. I ask Stormy if she will help me do the shopping once a week and help me make dinners. I tell her that I will pay her. She says yes. One morning the neighbor reports two of my boys didn’t get on the school bus. From the pay phone, I call the police and social services. The neighbor, a 30 year old man has taken the boys to his camp. The kids are acting out, I have walked to the laundry room and when I get back, I’m told an explosive has been thrown into the wood burner. One day my son Michael is being accused of hanging out with a kid who tried to start a fire in a horse trailer. After I can’t find son Michael, I beg Terry for a ride to go look for him. My neighbor takes me and I find my son walking along highway 101.
Lisa wants rent for her friend. She says if I don’t pay, she will burn the place down with me in it. She has chased me through the yard with an axe. Another neighbor is upset because I won’t let her in. She goes to punch me in the face, I duck and she misses. My children had reported seeing her and somebody chopping wood. This is not permitted on the reservation. After saying that they would turn her in, my children are told they better not. That same neighbor drives by my place and shoots a gun. I hear it hit outside and I call the tribal police. Not much is said or done. My monthly report is past due and I am supposed to get paid in two days. I have got to get it turned in. I ask my kids, who wants to leave the reservation and never come back. On foot, together we leave.
The first place we go is the Chartroom on south beach. I know Linda from the shelter. I am asking for help. She says for me to talk to the police department because she doesn’t have room. She is just about to get off work and is willing to take my children with her to her house, so that I can go to station and get a motel voucher. I buy a newspaper and I order some pizza. When I call Linda, she says everyone just ate and she is too tired to bring them to me. I am told to wait until the morning, she has got to be to work at 11am. I make the best of it and go through the paper to find a place to rent. I talk to a woman who agrees to meet me in the morning. It is a big three-bedroom house. Real early next morning, I take a cab to look for Cathy, my bible study coach. I ask her to take me to Klamath to get some clothes for my kids. When we get back, Linda is not home. She left early to work. She gives my children to Becky who has a headache and gives them to Sherry. From the pay phone I finally get a hold of Sherry. She is on the other line with CPS. She wants custody of my daughter Britt, Michael and Joshua. She says Monday she is going to file for custody. Cathy takes me to Sherry’s and in the drive way is a police car and a station wagon.
A tall detective says, “he knows what I’ve been doing.” He asks me to lift up my sleeves. I ask Cathy to wait but she doesn’t. Two of my boys are off on the property playing. I am told that my children are being taken away. I ask them if they can give me a ride into town because it is 3 miles away and I don’t want to walk. I am sitting in the front seat with my babies in the back screaming. My daughter Brittini is crying and my son Andrew is starring out the window. I’m dropped off at the corner, and immediately tears have flooded my vision. I am walking to where, I don’t know. A man standing in a door way at a place I have recently given a friend a ride to, asks me if I am okay. He asks me if I need to make a phone call. I do and make a call to my sister and I call Mike. I have money, so I buy pizza and pop. I share it with the family. In the morning I am being walked to meet Mike. It’s Sunday, and I’m in front of the sheriff’s station waiting to meet Mike and my sister. My sister takes the four boys and Mike takes the two girls. I am with Mike and my two daughters. I have picked up my last check and I rent a U-Haul and drive to Nevada. From Mikes moms I call my sister and ask her about her husband Bill’s past. I ask her if he has ever been molested. I asked because of what my mom has told me about Bill. She says yes and I decide to pick up my children. There is a condition, I cannot stay in the home. The boys are with Mike and his mom and my two daughters and I stay with my cousin. A big three bedroom comes up for rent, seven houses down from mikes moms. Phone calls are made and it’s arranged. We rent it.
History of 1993 Relationship with the accused
I want me and Mike to try harder than ever to get along, but it is during what is supposed to be love making, that he is asking how old someone needs to be to watch us in bed. One day Mike handed me a hundred dollars and tells me to leave but I do not want to go. He is mad about it and tells me that he does not want to be around me and that he can’t stand me. His sister has picked up him and the kids to go to an all-star game. I stayed home because I am babysitting for my cousin. When Mike gets home, he is intoxicated and after a huge argument I decide that I want a divorce. I am hoping for a change because I want my children to be happier. Mike says he will leave and stay with his mom.
Later he asks to go with me to an appointment I have made with a marriage therapist from the Trinity. He tells me to pay the $500.00 for rent and then moves out. The boys are helping him take his things to his moms. He will be staying seven houses up the road. After a few hours have gone by, I am at his moms because the kids have not come back yet and she is not letting me in. As she is refusing to open the screen door, she starts to blame me about her glasses falling off of her face. At this point, I am scared and she says she is going to have me arrested. I find a place to hide on someone’s porch because I am crying. It was a struggle to find the courage to go home. The furniture, refrigerator and food are all gone. I find a church to ask for food and council. I am told to turn Mike into the District Attorney’s office for abandonment. When I tell Mike about it, he says he will help me. He gives me four hundred dollars and I buy a travel trailer. Since I believe it to be in my children’s best interest, I suggest that Mike and I get back together. I am told to wait because he has promised the children a Sega and VCR and therefore cannot pay the rent. I am at a church with my niece Ann. After making several calls I am told that my trailer is too old for any of the RV parks. A man in the office, has offered me to put the RV in his drive way. He says his wife is a teacher. I sell the RV. The girls and I are allowed to stay in a spare bedroom. I got a job at the elephant bar as a hostess but because I am very depressed, shortly after I am fired. I call Mike and he says him and the boys are hungry. I give him three full boxes of food. The couple that I am staying with, tells me not to do it and that I need to have tough love. When I do it anyways, I am told to leave. I go back to Mike. His mother is moving out and he will need a sitter. My children tell me that their uncle is locking them outside without anything to drink. While he is inside their house drinking alcohol. I move in, paint, and then put up posters on the kid’s walls. I sort out their clothes and throw out what appear to be rags. I give all the kids haircuts. Five months prior, while at a dentist appointment, the nurse tells me to apply for SSI. She says she thinks I should have it and explains what it is because I’ve never heard of it before.
I Leave to go somewhere one day, when I go outside, I realize I have forgot something. So, I go back and try to open the door but the door is locked. I knock for five minutes. Mike opens the door, he unlatched the lock, but doesn’t open it all the way. Finally, I get in and find my kids. Since they seem happy, I leave. My mom stops by for a visit. When she leaves, she takes my daughter with her. She says she will bring her back in two weeks. Mike’s behavior is getting weirder. During what is supposed to be love making, he is saying he wants to pretend to rape me. He is asking if I can handle a bunch of men all at once. One, two, three, four, five guys he says. I’ve started sleeping in my own room with the girls. One night, while I am asleep, he enters the room and flips on the light. He has his polaroid hanging around his neck. He asks me if I will let him take pictures but I say no. The next day he walks home from work. After spending the whole day cleaning, I walk up to meet him. When he sees me, instead of acknowledging me, he walks right past me. He sits down on the curb and then gets up. I follow him into the kitchen. He starts slamming his fists into the cabinets. He is doing this in front of the two boys. He is screaming at me, “No one can stand you” and “The boys don’t love you, isn’t that right boys!” At this point, I have developed a bad habit of picking at the skin on my face. This is due to stress and I can’t seem to control myself. My mom sends me to see a Dermatologist. The prescribed medication does not allow for me to be in direct sunlight. I’ve got a job lined up at the MGM through a guy named Neil. I want to leave my husband but I have nowhere to go.
The counselor from the trinity tell me that I am allowed to get a divorce due to the emotional and physical abuse. I make some new friends that welcome me to their house. This soon becomes a safe haven. A place where I can go to escape the chaos at home. I keep to myself and no one really bothers me. One day, Mike and I get into an argument. I want to leave. I am looking for my birth certificate. My intention is to take my baby girl with me. While I am looking through the closet, Mike grabs my arm. He has made me stop. I go into the living room and sit on the couch. I’ve changed the channel from married with children to something else. He takes the remote and says to me, “things are going to change around here.” then I am old to sit still. My mom is back and has no idea what has been going on. She gets upset because I go outside and so she leaves. I pay a neighbor that lives two doors down, to take me to look for her. I don’t feel that she would be safe wondering this area alone.
Its April 23rd. I am at a clinic to have A DNC. The doctor tells me that I am having a miscarriage. In June I am still bleeding very heavily. My neighbor tells me about a pill that I can take to stop the bleeding. I try to get a hold of my doctor, but can’t because he has gone on vacation. I am standing outside one day, when my neighbor asks me if I love my husband. She says he is weird and stares at her sometimes. She also says, she can hear him through the walls saying horrible things. Mike has bought me a concert ticket but since I cannot find a babysitter, I do not want to go. He is angry, pushes me into the street and locks me out. I am crying nonstop. My neighbor tells me that she was abused by her stepdad. After thinking about what she said, I have decided to follow through with the job at the MGM and leave Mike. The temperature outside is 120 degrees. I find a roommate and I am happy.
I am at my friend’s new apartment. I am sick, feeling weak and still bleeding a lot. I have a chest cold. After two days, I finally have enough strength to get up and shower. I begin staring out the bathroom window. I see an entrance to a church and children walking with their moms and dads. I realize at this moment that I am very sad. Later on that day, I walk far to get to a bus stop. I have been waiting for a long time and need to find a restroom. I am standing in front of Marie Antoinette’s, when a man comes and greets me from the front desk. He asks me if I need some help and I say yes. He offers me a drink. I use the restroom and then leave. This is how I meet Steve.
Initial Allegation Reported
Finally, I make it home. I’ve just walked in and my daughter is laying on the love seat with a sad look on her face. She looks pale. She looks the same way she did when she was a week old. I had taken her to the hospital and discovered that she had three holes in her heart. I sit down on the loveseat besides my daughter. I ask her if she wants a drink. Mike is across the hall on his bed. He is laying on top of his blankets. The door is open and he is starring at the wall. The TV in the living room is loud and in between channels. I try talking to Mike but he is ignoring me. The next morning, I see a box packed with Mike’s things. Then a half hour later the box is empty. It is early and I am at the refrigerator with my daughter. I am kneeling down, when I ask her if Mike has been a pervert, she says,” yes.” This came as a shock because we did not watch rated R movies in our house. I then ask her, “what did he do?“ and she says, ”He kissed me.” I am worried because my stepdad was the reason I “ran away” from home, after he tried to wet kiss me when I was 13 years old. I ask her to kiss my hand the same way that he kissed her. It is an open and wet kiss. I ask her, “Did he do anything else?” she replies, “He pulled my hair.” she says, “No wait I mean Scot, no wait I mean David.” I stand up and Mike is standing right there. He just got home from work and looks mad. I tell him that I am going to my friend’s house. I leave and I’ve taken the girls with me. I am going to ask for money.
Mike starts chasing us and I tell him,” You’re going to jail.” His response is,” So, and so are you.” I was confused, why was he saying that? Around the corner, Brittini has ran into somebody’s yard and is hiding behind a palm tree. After we finally make it to the church, we talk to a pastor. He says it’s hard to understand my daughter and I am told that I can go back if she becomes clearer. He says he might be able to help because his dad is a cop in California. I leave the church and accidently run into Mike. He won’t stop following me. I am upset and standing on a main street. I am yelling at him to go away. Somebody sees this and asks if I need help. I say yes. Mike is told to stop chasing me or else he is going to call the cops. I run to Sam’s house, sitting with Brit at the kitchen table, I began to write down what she’s telling me & realize it needs to be reported to the authorities. I don’t go home in fear till the next day. Mike has packed his things and moved out. My son Josh (8 yrs. Old) hands me a baseball collection, and with it is a roll of film. Josh hands me another roll of film that is damaged.
Changing Brooke’s diaper, I tell my mom to come and look at the pink circle on her private (size of a quarter). Brittini (5yrs. Old) hands me a doll and says “daddy put the dolls foot in Brooks private”. Alarmed with her story, I checked her private and she had exact same pink circle too. I called the governor in desperation to get help. I run back to the Trinity to speak with the same Pastor and he is not available. The senior Pastor gave me and both of my daughters a ride to Sunrise Hospital to have them checked. I also admit myself for the perfuse bleeding from a miscarriage. I was sent to the sexual assault department where my two daughters will be checked, meanwhile, a detective outside the room interviewed me & he hands me his calling card. The bleeding continued making me feel very weak. I was never seen by a doctor because when they called me, I was attending to my children. They were given a prescription for the infection. The doctor said to be careful around Mike and my daughter Brittini made a statement as she was getting dressed “mom it really did happen.” A mile walk from the hospital Brittini continues to add more to her story. I was feeling very weak, confused & scared to bring my girls in the house. So I leave both of them with the next-door neighbor. Mike was on the driveway with the boys crying, telling the boys to tell me he’s sorry.
He hands me a letter, then I leave to pick up the girls. I go back to Sam’s to pick up my notes to write down Brittini’s additional information about Mike. I left them to look for a phone to call the CPS hotline for a desperate help to no avail. A stranger had me use his cell phone to call the police. They showed up, I explained the situation, the hospital visits and detective interview hours earlier. They made a phone call, and when they came back, I was told there is nothing they can do. In fear of Mike, I didn’t go home until the next day when my mom tells me he has not been around. Organizing the house and the clothes, Brittini takes me to the closet pointing at clothes Mike would make her wear. I see a blood stain on Mike’s bed. Knowing he’s been sleeping alone, I question it. I was terrified because my daughter Brittini had already mentioned about wiping blood from her leg. I called a friend Neil for a ride to the police station to turn in the sheet with the blood and the clothes. The officers would not take them from me asking me for a case number. (behind the desk I’m being laughed at) Eventually, I was able to give it to them when I went back, a tall detective takes the bed sheet.
Trying to divert the children from all of this, I would let them go swimming at the plunge while I get the house in order. They told me Mike had been driving around by the pool. I was terrified by him so I kept the children indoors. I was doing everything I can to maintain the up keep of the yard because I’m not supposed to live there with my other 4 children. Needing money for my daughter’s prescription from the doctor, so I sold the hide away bed. I helped deliver it to Joel the buyer and his wife Ann stayed with the children. When I get back, she is holding a belt and says the kids have been out of control. The Landlord had allowed me to stay if I could pay the rent with the help of the agency. Without any transportation or babysitter to get to the agency at 6:30 am, and I am evicted. My friend Neil stops by to check on everyone. Then later Sam comes over with a beer in his hand. He scolds my children, kicks my older son on the butt, tries to corner me and kiss me. I fight him off. Meanwhile, Michael & Joshua had ran off. I leave the house to look for them, and find them looking at a phone book, which I later learned they had called their grandfather. We get home and I had told Brittini to let everyone (her siblings) know tha something wrong is going on and we all need to be careful. She was shy and hesitated. Each one asked “is something wrong Brittini?” She said yes to everyone. Things were calmer, suddenly a loud knock on the door and Michael, my eldest son, shouts “it’s dad”. It was the grandpa and his wife Nancy. She threatened to call the police. Since I had a bench warrant, I didn’t want them to take me in and be separated from the girls in fear of Mike being around them. Nancy promised to keep the boys with them just to visit. I was tricked because when they were all in the car, Mike showed up. The electricity got shut off, I’m still bleeding from the miscarriage and nowhere to go to shower except Sam’s, a walking distance. I leave Britney & Brook with Tria (their friend’s mom) while I shower. Walking back to pick them up, police car was at Tria’s talking to her and she was holding Brook without a top on at 11:30 pm.
I go back to the house without the power and my mother had been sitting in the dark. Her car won’t start in the morning, so I asked Neil to take us to a hotel 2 miles away where I made phone calls to get any kind of help from agencies to get a place to stay for us. I left my mom and walked back to the house to get some of our important belongings before they locked it up. Heading back, I approached a Police officer eating at PJ’s Lounge to help me. He was approachable, allowed me to explain what is going on.
He stepped away to make a phone call, and when he came back, his whole attitude shifted to “please leave me alone, I’m having lunch”. Across the street is a Community Counseling Center, I make an appointment with a return date. I’m served a 3 day eviction notice. I go back to Sam to pick up the negatives and pictures he was supposed to develop at his job. They were incomplete. I go back to the Hotel to check out my mom and two girls. A couple days have gone by, I have not heard from the grandparents. I go by the pool, and the kids there said Michael told them he wants to run away from his dad because he is trying to kidnap him. The kids call Michael & asked him to come to the swimming pool. He shows up, I’m hiding in the locker room, I come out and he is surprised. He says “something is going on mom but we’ll talk about it later”. He said his three brothers are staying at a hotel with his dad, and he goes to work at 9pm.
I go there and no one answers the door. Next day early morning, I used two public phones near a bus stop and dialed 911 and I thought it was broken. Next thing I know within 15 minutes, four police cars showed up. I told them my three minor kids are alone at a motel. They didn’t even bother to check my ID, instead they told me if I didn’t hop on the bus they would arrest. I jumped on the bus, I got off at the Motel. The boys opened the door this time. We are packing, and Josh finds three nude pictures of his dad. We leave the Motel. I call my son Michael at his friend’s house, to tell him I have the three boys. He was very happy. Now I call the sexual assault detective to set up an appointment. I was advised to call the Motel to tell their dad I have the boys. I’m on one phone talking to the assault unit, and on the other phone telling Mike I have the boys. Josh grabs the phone to talk to his dad saying “dad I found the pictures, I can tell you just took them”. I grab the phone from Josh, I hear Mike crying “I’m sorry, I promise I will change.” Joshua tells me he needs to use the restroom. While on the phone with Mike, the two boys, Josh and Michael leave. I call Neil to come get me and Andrew to drop us off at Mike’s Motel thinking they were there.
Andrew and I are dropped off at the motel. I take Andrew to the office and I explain that he is hungry and needs to eat lunch. So, they let me in the room. Then, Mike shows up with Joshua and David. Mike opens the door and yells, “run.” David and Joshua run to the car and have jumped into the back seat. I am sitting in the driver’s seat. Mike is pulling on me to get out of the car. I tell mike I will give him back the boys after tomorrows appointment with the detective. He agrees to it and drops us all off at the apartment. When I ask about my son Michael, I am told he left after making a phone call and without saying anything. The third interview is with detective parks. It is in a playroom. I am scrunched and sitting on the stairs. Joshua is 9, David is 8, Andrew is 7, Brittini is 5 and Brooke is 3 years old. My oldest, Michael, is not there though. He had just turned 12 and was missing. My mom is at this interview to talk about what she has witnessed. The detective seems impersonal. I have brought a bag of items from the house. Things given to me by either Andrew or Brit. At first, it seems like a casual talk about the mischiefs/ incidents. I begin to discuss the significant amount of evidence and I had a lot more to talk about, when Detective Parks walks us out of the building. I ask her where can I go from there. She’s upset raising her voice, she says, “I am not going to get on a personal level with your children.” Motioning her arms, back and forth, she says, “this is where it stops.” We have all left the property.
There is talk about how dad is supposed to pick them up. Joshua says I will runaway. David says me too. Andrew says I would rather go into a foster home, than live with dad. My mom and the girls take a bus and because there’s not enough money, the boys and I walk. Still bleeding a lot. It’s a hundred some degrees. I am miserable. When we walk past a law office I ask to borrow their restroom. I am an emotional wreck. The place comes across as an oasis. It’s beautiful. At this point, I feel that I was unable to express myself effectively, but I did try. Along the way as we are walking, a police officer has pulled over four blocks up the way, circles to ask me if I am ok. At home a police officer is there and is asking my mom what I had been wearing. My friend heather has walked up, she’s being asked if she thinks I am ok. I call mikes sister to ask if she’s seen Michael.
Shortly after Mike pulls up and has Michael with him. I beg him to leave the boys. I tell him I am sorry. I’m crying. I am begging to stay together, for my children’s sake. Thinking that way I would be able to protect them. He does not agree & says he will be back in a few days. Before driving off Annette is walking by and through the mirror, I see the look Mike is giving her. It is a very mean look. Time passes and Brit reports seeing Mike kiss Anntoinetta and remembers that he touched her breast. A year later, while I am living with Mike Goldfarb, I contact Anntionetta’s sister and via telephone I am asking her to talk to her sister about what I had heard. She reports back saying that Mike had tried to rape her sister.
One day I am by Trias. Her daughter says in front of Tria, she remembers being with Brit at Orlando’s niece’s birthday party in May and when mike showed up early to pick her up, Brit went to hide and said she did not want to go with him. When I question my daughter for further details, she says he took her home, spanked her hands with a small belt and told her to go to sleep. While I am at social services one day, Andrew says, “mom when I feel safe there is something I want to tell you. We have been evicted and over the phone I have made arrangements to rent a place. The small studio is inhabitable. Next to the front door the window, is broken glass making it possible for somebody to stick their finger in it and possibly cut themselves. There is no air conditioning, the fan has a long orange drop cord that goes across the room and plugs in behind the refrigerator. Under the carpet are alive and dead bugs. Pinchers, roaches and rolli pollies. As I am walking from a bus stop to the welfare office to apply for food stamps, I stop by the subway for water and directions. A man in three-piece suit offers my children and I a ride. Along the way after we talk, he says his mom works at the attorney general’s office in missing with children, for me to call her if I needed to.
I do not have any food stamps yet so I ask Heather for food, her brother walks across the street and buys us some grocery’s. With my hands full I want to ask Sam for a ride. He’s home, I leave Andrew and Brit and head across the street over to heathers to pick up Brooke, she had been asleep. When I get back over to Sams, Andrew is brushing Brits hair. It’s down from being in pig tales. Sam is lying on the floor in front of his T.V. Andrew says Sam locked him out on the balcony when I was gone.
I’m home, the toilets overflowing and I go to the office for a plunger, when I return 911 is on the phone asking if something was wrong. Dead eyes been there to ask for me. Andrews avoiding him, he’s ducking around the car. I had met deadeye while staying there. I had all my stuff outside in the driveway so I could lay down some new carpet. The iron bed was so heavy I allowed him to help me. I meet somebody who is looking for a roommate. It is two young guys from across the hall whom had borrowed an extension cord to have electricity. Over the phone I have met a man name ray via telephone whom says he can help a little bit. I was looking for a support group asking for school supplies for the kids. The manager had taken my bad refrigerator because it was contaminated with food. A prostitute is asking to use my bathroom and borrow my phone. I ask Mike for some groceries. He says he will meet us at the terminal. He does not say a word to either of the children. He doesn’t look at them and he doesn’t say goodbye. I witness a man being robbed outside of my window. A street guy tells me his brother was murdered. And that I am ventured in the center of three territorial gangs.
A woman sitting in her car from the county agrees to talk to me. When I ask her inside, I explain things she says she can try to help. She leaves and comes back with a doctor’s phone number. I spend five minutes on the phone and he schedules me an appointment that I later miss because I miss a bus. I am trying to get a new food stamp card and when I get back my mom says one of the neighbors were choking Andrew. When she walked in. His cousin tells me he had issues from his dad being in prison. I don’t understand what he means by it, I tell the boys I do not want to roommate and to leave. I get a check and because we didn’t have dishes or towels nor did the kids have good shoes, I buy what we need. The next day the little girl from across the street has come over and while I am on the phone with somebody, she’s come out of the bathroom telling me she wants to give the girls a bath. I say no and when I am done from being on the phone I go in the bathroom and she is at the sink, she has attempted to give baths. I am upset about it. My mom has been helping me, she has spent her birthday at this place. I tell my mom I want to leave because I do not feel safe. The kitchen sink leaked, the gas knobs were hard to read on the stove, the truth is I hated everything about being there!
My son Michael is begging me to come home. He says he is scared to be alone with his dad. I know where he is staying and I am worried about his safety. So after asking the kids, I call my cousin for a ride. It’s raining out. It’s like 7 pm when we get to Henderson I am suddenly with a fever and need to rest. I have unpacked everything. Mike is mad about me not going into his room. I want to lay down. I tell, everyone to leave my door open and that I am going to rest with Brooke. When I wake up hours later, Mike’s left for work and the door is closed.
I ask my daughter if Mike had said anything to her. She says he took her into the bathroom and said he was going to hurt her. I ask my son Joshua if he had seen her go into the bathroom with dad. Not clear on what to think, I take Brit into the bathroom, and notice she looks very red. I tried calling a hotline that night from the pay phone and I had called around looking for help.
On September 2nd at 7:30 in the morning, I call Brenda the social worker. I explain everything, I tell her what happened that night, of September 8th. She tells me to take my daughter to a hospital, so I do. I walk a mile and a half to Saint Rose. When it comes to seeing Brit, I am told I have to go to the hospital in Las Vegas. They are refusing to see her. The other hospital is 16 miles away. Between the hours of 12:00 and 5:00 my children report being abused to the doctor, his assistant, Bob Dunsun and a retired police officer from C.A.A.R. Carol Fucillo. I was asked to be honest, after being questioned while at the hospital in the exam room. I am told that I have two things on my side:
1) Mr. Dunsun believes the children and I.
2) Carol believes the children and I.
In route to the Henderson police department to pick up Michael and Joshua. Carol tells me she is going to find us a safe place for the night. The Henderson police are expecting me and have already picked up Joshua from school. I called them, this was the advice of both Bob and Carol. Detective Newman says she has had contact with Sunrise hospital and was told Mrs. Parks from the LVMPD would not authorize an exam. It is hospital policy and was done anyways. Mrs. Fucillo, myself and the smaller children have arrived to the station. The officers are talking about how they need to pick Michael up from his dad. Maxine tells Carol she wants to talk to the officers. Carol has reported after talking with me all day, that although I seemed to jump around from subject to subject, she still felt the children were being abused by dad. Carol says there is something odd going on in the Barlow residence and both Andrew and Brit were interviewed by her and a member from the attorney general’s office. During this interview, the children reported Dad has his private in their mouths and urinates. Carol says Brit hymen is still intact but is very red around her vagina. Carol leaves the room. The officers have decided the children have been interviewed two times and haven’t had dinner yet, an attempt to interview them again after a long day would not be wise. And felt it be better to place the children in a safe environment until the next day, they will ask dad to leave so the children and mom could stay there comfortably.
Carol is sent home, and now the officers discuss, “but what if mom is training the children what to say.” A call from Maxine and things change. Maxine says according to Detective Shoemaker, (this being second hand information and she says she knows him very well) it’s reported I have fished through several detectives. She says I took in a bloody sheet claiming it was proof. She says Detective Shoemaker told her he felt I had a revenge problem against my husband. She says I reported having a varicose vein from my ankle to my vagina that caused me to miscarriage. This is not true. In fact, the same vein seven years later while delivering my nearly eleven-pound baby tears and the RN has to pinch it together until my doctor can rush from home to the hospital to help me not bleed to death. I’ve never said the vein caused me to miscarriage. What I did report is that I had a vein that would swell and was very painful, and that I had been bleeding off and on a lot since a miscarriage, I had last part of April.
Maxine Lanz says the sheet was tested and confirmed it did not match any of the kid’s blood. The reporting officer is informed Marie brought in some pictures of children playing in a room, fully clothed and that’s they were cut out from a vogue magazine and felt it was proof her husband was raping her children. When in fact I submitted actual photos of my children who were forced to change outfits and pose for the camera. Maxine informed the officers that Brenda, a social worker, had made arrangements for me to meet Dr. Hart, a psychologist. She says Doctor Hart has not seen Marie, but did get a chance to speak with her on the telephone, briefly. It was while she (Marie did not feel she or her children were in a safe place. And that it was his opinion I may be acting psychotic. When I question Doctor Hart about this remark, he says this is unprofessional and if he had something to say about me it would have come from him and on his stationary. Which it never did.
After 45 minutes, Mrs. Brown reports the children have not been abused by their father and that they would be safer with him. The children are being transported, when the officer has an opportunity to talk to Andrew, he asks Andrew if he is excited to see dad. Andrew says I do not want to go home. He says because my dad rapes me. Andrew does not say what dad does when asked how he rapes him or how he learned the word. Andrew says my dad has raped me since I was five. Andrew is not alone when he is questioned. I did not feel it was right to question him in a car, while sitting in front of his brothers.
The children are gone, the two police officers are laughing at me. They are rude and arrogant after I ask who had the sheet tested. I’m told I should check myself in somewhere when I get out of jail. Maxine says per medical doctor, my children had not been abused. And fails to mention the hours the children and I spent earlier that day at the hospital. Or how the doctor had told me to be careful about things even though there was no physical evidence. She does not mention what my children reported early that day to four different people. The doctor was not alone he had an assistant. Carol and Bob make four. Also, what about the drawings I learn about in court. After Maxine is interviewing me, she sends the kids off to go live with Mike. In route Andrew is reporting to the police officer that he does not want to go with his dad. Why was my little boy being ignored by those who are supposed to be protecting him?
Maxine says her advice is to get somebody from monte vista hospital to evaluate me. Maxine says she knows the original detective on the case very well and if anything bad had happened, he would of discovered it. And not given up until he did. My children and I are interviewed again. This is the third interview in one day. Michael is not there he stayed home from school and has been with his dad all day. Joshua is told to take Brooke from me. She becomes hysterical. I am seen by Crises personnel. She reports I am not coping effectively and, in her mind, I had a psychosis problem and I severely needed help. She says there is not enough to have me committed. I am arrested.
The police officer making the reports says he has had an opportunity to talk with Andrew. And when he asks Andrew if he is happy to go home. Andrew reported he did not want to see his dad because his dad hurt “raped” him. The police officer then asks Andrew what the word “rape” meant and what he had done when he raped him. “I don’t know” Andrew said, “but he’s hurt me sense I was five.” (now 7) Andrew and Brit had already reported what type of abuse they went through earlier that same day to Carol, then the doctor and the Attorney general’s representative, Bob Dunsun. And now while the police officer is driving, he is interviewing my son again. This is making it the fourth time in one day. It’s being decided after hours that Andrew should be sent to live with dad and that i should be arrested I am told the yellow little appointment slip from court to see the judge may be forged. They take me to jail. The next day my children are living with whom they have over and over accused of being vile. It’s not been heard in court, and there’s not been an attorney nor a jury.
Transcripts from court report that the Henderson P.D. Had interviewed Joshua. (8 yrs. old) He is asked, how things had been going in the home. 12 of 50 some paragraphs are of Joshuas testimonies. In the report Joshua says I had been home two days, truth is I had only been there for 14 hours. I was dropped off at about 8 the night before and left the following morning, meaning that I was in the home 10 and a half hours. The officers admit to one another they are confused. They talk about the possibility of my children being coaxed in to saying what they were saying about dad. They wonder why had CPS and Metro investigated the case before and found the claims of abuse to be untrue. At this point, I had not seen a CPS worker. So how did they investigate. When and with whom…????
In a holding cell with a this and that, elbow to elbow, the cell is packed. I call Bob Dunsun. He says he is going to try to help me to get out. The next day I am being released. It is Saturday, the reporting officer reports he was contacted by the attorney general Sir Dunsun. He was told Sir Dunsun was involved in the case. Maxine has told Brenda she should convince Doctor Hart to make me get the help I need. Mr. Dunsun reports that on September 8th, Brittini was examined. The doctor reported her hymen was intact, but that there was redness around the vagina. The reporting officer speculated that maybe because of Brittini being only five years old, she may not have wiped herself well. The reporting officer reports having contact with child protective services, supervisor Mr. Wynn. He’s told that the case was assigned to Candy Bennet but that she denied it and sent it to abuse and neglect. Candy Bennet reports to the department, she will not be following up on the Barlow children as victims of their father but instead, as victims of their mother. In the September transcripts it is said that I was confusing but after spending all day with me, both the advocate and detective Sir Dunsun felt that the children were being abused.
Mike reports he has not spoken with anybody from law enforcement, in lieu of what the children have reported.
NO JUDGE’ NO ATTORNEY’ NO COURT ROOM ‘NO RIGHTS
I am released from jail with nothing but the clothes on my back. When I go looking for one of my only friends, they seem to be indifferent so I leave. I try taking a bus to see Doctor Hart. I am short of money. A man named Mr. Malone is assisting me. I have been allowed on the bus from his Chicago police badge. Afterwards, I find where my brother lives. I ask to stay the night. Mr. Malone misses his bus and is staying at my brothers for the night. I am in the room on the floor sleeping when Mr. Malone has entered and tried to kiss me. The next morning, I borrow his pass and never return. At the fairgrounds I meet a lady campaigning for Stewart Bell. I show her something Andrew gave me and I explain what I am going through to her. She’s upset. She gives me her number and tells me to call her. I offer my time to keep me busy. Tim is on the highstriker, I am helping him flash his joint. After the silver slipper, Tim will be going to stay by his brothers and is inviting me to go with him. I call to my cousins and my aunt answers the phone. She is inviting me to the park that weekend to see the kids. I call the police station and the guy answers saying he is officer peace. I ask the officer, if I record my children’s abuse could be used as evidence. He says yes.
I have a visit with the kids. Tim has a friend who will be picking us up. She leaves Tim at her place and drives me to the visit. (She works in the medical field) I am at the park with everybody. I haven’t seen or spoken with the children in two months. My mom, my aunt, my cousin, my friend and I are all sitting together. I have picked Brit up and sat her-down. She seems to be timid like and scared. I am holding Brooke, at the table. Sitting beside Andrew I am asking about things in the past that he had reported. He’s got his hands in his mouth and is saying again and again I don’t remember. One of his answers is. “dad threatened to break David’s neck if he said or says something.” When I question Brooke she says, “Daddy put his private in my private.” Later while at a home visit this video is played for child protective services’ Ms. Carol Martin. (Mike is not Brooke or Brittini’s real father. He is only the father of the four boys. However, the girls are not aware of this)
I am standing at the truck. I have got to say goodbye. My mom walks up and both Brit and Andrew yell there’s grandma. She was Mikes babysitter. My aunt leaves for Arizona and because I need a copy of the tape, I will hitchhike to get it. I call the lady campaigning for Stewart Bell. She gives me a phone number to a detective. And I am told to call her when I am back. I have written it on my hand. Not knowing I am pregnant, I say goodbye to Tim. I spend a couple of hours on a freeway ramp. A man is offering me a ride, he says he can take me to my aunts the next day. I agree to it. I wash my hands and accidentally I have washed off the number. The next day the guy and I are out in route and he is drinking. We almost crash. On the way back he is still drinking. So, at a rest stop I tell him I will not be going with him any farther. I find a pay phone and I try getting ahold of the lady who has said the sinner’s prayer with my son while at the trinity in Vegas. I’m told she’s on a vacation. I am at the fairgrounds, without anything. I ask Laurie Merton to buy me a blanket and she does. I feel broken and distressed. I am sleeping under a ride. At night a man has threatened to burn me down in my tent for not wanting to be with him.
A few days before thanksgiving I go to a church for help and I have left my stuff on the front porch. My duffle bag gets stolen, making it where I have no way to get ahold of the woman campaigning for Stewart Bell. I remember being hysterical about it. From the church I am put on a greyhound to my sisters. My cousin calls for me and I am told Mike wants me to go home. The case is closed. Mike wires me a bus ticket.
Mike states that there is a letter on his locker, from CPS, saying that if he has any problem to give them a call. He says in their opinion they think I am crazy. Before leaving my sisters for Mikes, I call CPS and I ask about me going to live with him. I explain I am scared. Mr. Wynn says the only one I should be afraid is myself. I am at the last bus stop. it so happens to be where the guy who kept drinking while driving lives. Earlier I got off the bus and go to a pub. I had all my boxes. I couldn’t find the courage I needed to go home. Back on to the bus, I am crying the whole way. People are asking if I am ok. The guy does not answer the door. It is very cold out, and I have no money. I climb into the guys truck and I stay there all night. 5:30 the next morning I walk across the street to call mike. I am home, I have taken a taxi. Mikes made a huge pan of yams. He’s hollering at my son Michael to take them out of the oven. He’s mad at me for trying to help. Mike is also very upset at me for not wanting to sleep with him in his room.
I give the children haircuts. And I have clipped their fingernails. I am repeating over and over the house rules. 1)There will be no war games. 2)There will be no little children in the kitchen. 3)there will be no hitting one another. 4) there is to be no jumping on the furniture. 5) No bossing, I express I want the children to try harder to get along with each other 6.) No screaming. 7.) no running & 8.) No playing ball inside the home. I throw out a lot of ragged clothes. And I rearrange everything. I switch mikes room out with the boys because there are four of the children in one room and he has the biggest. Late one night I follow Joshua, I want to see what is so funny. He has put something down his pants. He calls me a liar he pulls out a plate. I spank his behind. Joshua says “it didn’t hurt.” It at this time my baby Brooke is throwing up. I tell David to get off his bike, he calls me stupid. He says, “if mom hits me, I will tell dad and she will get kicked out.” We’re sitting together in the living room when I notice a scab on the top of Brooke’s head. I go to the bathroom Brooke’s insisting I allow her to stay with me. I tell her no, she is upset. Sitting under the sink on a ledge I ask her about the stick. She says her brother hit her.
I am giving my daughter a bath. In a whisper I ask her if anybody has hurt her. She is laying on her side and with two fingers motions yes in an up and down motion. Sunday, I want to go to church it’s late and we are on foot. The pastor talks to my sons Michael and Joshua and then takes the children and I back home. Mikes yelling from his room. Is there a trash bag? He’s asked josh how does the kitchen look. Joshua says it’s a mess Mikes screaming it figures since your moms been home everything is backwards. I have sorted through the toys. All of Brits barbies are missing their heads, so I ask her about it. She says it happened because of the dolls being jerked back and forth. The laundry is sky high. Everything is dirty. Everybody but Andrew is sick. He’s the only one who goes to school that day. My mom has given the children and I a ride to my cousins so I can do the laundry. I am sitting with my mom and my cousin at the table in the kitchen. We are having coffee. Michael and Joshua run in from outside. One of the boys wants to report the other for doing something nasty. I reprimand the two and send them back out. Five minutes later there is a hard knock on the door. It is CPS and with them are like five police officers. They have Andrew in a county van and are searching for Michael and Josh. I don’t go home. I am at a visit and we are all coloring. I tell my kids I love them. In court later Candy says all I did was say I love you. I am told I am not going to get an attorney.
Then one day in December, Candy stops by with an attorney’s name. She says they have changed their minds. The next year it’s the trial and I have met my attorney for the first time. Sitting in the lobby are Mike with my children. Brooke is happy to see me. Brit is walking towards me, then turns around to look at Mike. Immediately she stops in her tracks. She seems robotic, she turns herself around and goes to sit next to Mike. My attorney tells me to stop saying what I am saying or I may never see my kids again. I ask him if these were his kids, would he quit just because someone tells him too. We’re in the lobby, walking into the court room my attorney throws up his hands saying “that’s it I tried.” and then says he quits. The judge questions Michael and then the judge questions Josh. There are two police man testifying that my daughter drew a line from a tall figure to a small figures breast. The second drawing is from a small figure to a tall figures private area. The second officer reports my son Andrew reported his dad raped him. Brit and Andrew never take the stand. Before hearing master Beller, I have my arms crossed.
