Newborn Baby Taken During Pandemic

January 11, 2020, I decided to go see my family in Texas so they could meet my newborn baby. I stayed there for a month and I have, after expressing that it was only a visit. Once the father of my child and his mother came to pick me and my son up my family was very distraught because of the bond they had with the baby. Resulting in my grandmother calling DFCS in the state of Georgia where I was headed to, (admittedly to me) Made a false allegation of substance abuse & Abuse and neglect of the baby. A day after I had made it to Georgia I allowed Case Worker to enter the residence of my baby father’s family to do a home visit hoping that she would see there was nothing wrong and that the allegations were false. I was very wrong, She had me and my baby’s father agreed to be supervised for 45 days by his mother and grandmother making them safety providers.

At the end of the 45 day period, A zoom video conference call was conducted. Because of my parental fitness test, They said that I had lacked the ability to parent on my own. Resulting in an extension of the supervision period & Assigning me to a counselor to complete parenting classes and individual counseling weekly. Mind you though this course of five months of the case being open my caseworker did not conduct very many FaceTime home visits. And I only contacted her when I needed help establishing childcare and when I had completed something positive.

A very small altercation happened between me and my baby fathers grandmother and out of emotion she had made one phone call. We had a zoom call meeting with all of my caseworkers and their supervisors, my baby fathers grandmother had apologized for the phone call and begged for them to understand the emotional stress this case is putting her under and she did not mean anything in her phone call. A week later a phone call of another false allegation was made to my Case Worker over the weekend of Fourth of July. She called me after the weekend was over and warned me about the phone call and said that she and her counsel we’re going to have a meeting about it and that the outcome could be a removal. She gave me a call back after the brief meeting was held and she told me that removal was not being looked at, that more services were just going to be put in for me to complete such as family counseling for the arguments. A couple of days had passed, as I was getting ready to go to bed she had made arrival on my residence. She arrived with a removal form for my son, stating because of allegations my son was being removed. The name of my son was not spelled correctly on the removal form, and she had A very nasty attitude the whole time as well in Spite of seeing how torn up the family was. It took them more than 72 hours to give me a proper court hearing and when I requested to represent myself the judge laughed and denied me and my request to not be represented by my lawyer because he did not have the best interest of me or my child. It took them more than 72 hours to give me a proper court hearing and when I requested to represent myself the judge laughed and denied me and my request to not be represented by my lawyer because he did not have the best interest of me or my child. when I asked the caseworker exactly why did she take my son away for me, she said it was not because of me or anything to do about neglect or abuse but that it was because of the environment he was in despite repeatedly saying over and over again about how well he was taken care of and how happy and healthy he was with me. My son’s arrival with the foster care system, my Case Worker said that he was very happy and healthy and that you could tell he was well taken care of.
